Programming and Software Development
Luca Monaco, Programmer and Software Developer
The C language, created in 1972 at Bell Laboratories, is currently the most used programming language in university introductory computer science courses, thanks to its diffusion in the professional field, the close link with the UNIX world and the ease with which it allows switching to other languages such as C++, Java and Perl.
C is a programming language that does not have a graphical interface: it is said to be a programming language with a command line interface. To use it, therefore, it is necessary to have a terminal: on Mac this is called Terminal, and it is an application that you will find in the Launchpad; on Windows instead there is both the Command Prompt and Microsoft PowerShell.
My own experience
I studied this language in my first programming course at university and worked with it for a whole semester. At the end of it, I passed the exam and I can say to be a junior expert of this technology.
Works and projects
During that semester, I had a lot of practice and exercises sessions and thanks to them I elaborated several ideas, projects and works you can find, read about and download here, on my personal website.
My favorite ones are:
- The equation solver
- The registry manager
- The calculator
- Guess my number (it's a game)
But you can already find something more and soon I’ll add other programs!
Skills and problem solving
My skills in programming in C is not only about programming but also developing!
This means that I can find and fix errors in code, I can manage it in ways the program will be light and not much heavy and demanding for your computer.
